Chakr Innovation – Materializing a cleaner reality 1. Chakr Innovation was founded in 2016 at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) campus with a vision to tackle one of the most pressing issues in the developing world - addressing the alarming levels of air pollution. 2. Since then, Chakr has evolved into a leading material science company, driven by a dedicated team of scientists and engineers focused on core research and development. Their work aims to address the urgent challenges of climate change. 3. Chakr Innovation currently has two major business verticals namely the Emission Control Business (ECB) and Aluminium Air (Al - Air). The core innovation at Chakr revolves around capturing particulate matter emissions from diesel engines. Diesel engines are utilized in a variety of applications, including vehicles, stationary generators for backup power, marine vessels, and railway systems. 4. The patented technology developed by Chakr, known as Chakr Shield, is a Retrofit Emission Control Device (RECD) that reduces the release of harmful Particulate Matter, Carbon Monoxide and Hydrocarbons emission by over 70%. Chakr Shield signi????icantly reduces the carbon footprint and ensures compliance with stringent regulations. Chakr Shield employs a three-stage technology, with two of these stages utilizing specially developed ceramic substrate, created through in-house research and development. 5. Since its inception in 2016, Chakr has expanded to over 1,100 employees, comprising 600+ on full-time payroll, with the remainder as full-time contractual staff and consultants.
