Non-metallic & Metallic expansion joints are flexible connectors designed to provide stress relief in ducting systems by absorbing movement caused by thermal changes. Metallic joint are made up of SS 304 & IS 2062 , Non metallic joint are made of specially developed industrial fabric and insulating material. The main fabric used for manufacturing Non Metallic Expansion Joints is glass fabric. The glass fabric are chemically treated and coated with Elastomer . The most commonly coated fabrics are Rubber i.e. EPDM, natural rubber, viton etc. The Elastomer coated other fabrics are silicon and PTFE coated glass fabric. Graphite coated glass fabric, ceramic fabric, Cavlor and darlin fabrics are also used in this field. The single or combined layer of different fabrics with or without bolster is used to cater the requirement and is mounted on steel frame on flue gas duct to accommodate its thermal expansion or contraction in axial, lateral or angular movement
